I've probably already done this at some point but never at mid-season, so I'm going to go through a typical day in Manchester through the eyes of myself as a professional hockey player. My next post will be of a topic that I choose from my Twitter followers' suggestions.
7:45 AM - Wake up alarm goes off and I scramble to hit snooze.
8:00 AM - Finally get out of bed after two snoozes and put in my contacts and brush my teeth. Sometimes I'll take the dog out for a leak and feed her breakfast while I make my breakfast. Breakfast is usually a bagel with peanut butter on it or some sort of eggs. When Gillian cooks breakfast I get pancakes, eggs, and bacon.
8:25 AM - Jump in the "Big Rig" and head to Verizon Wireless Arena.
8:50 AM - Roll into the locker room and greet the boys. Pour a cup of coffee and get changed into my gitch. Warm-up a bit and get dressed for practice at least 10 minutes before practice starts.
10:00 AM - Practice starts. I work hard, try to get better at hockey, listen to what the coaches have to say, and work with the team. The length of practice depends on what day of the week it is and when our next game is.
11:30 AM - Usually I am off the ice by now on a regular day and hitting the showers shortly after I get off the ice and undressed, unless there is a workout following practice.
12:00 PM - Head back home from VWA. When I arrive at home Gillian usually has lunch ready for me unless we decide to go out for lunch together. Lunch is always followed with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I need to mix in some more NHL '12 to get my score up, but Duty is my number 1 priority. If I feel like I need some more rest I will take a nap for no more than 2 hours.
4:00 PM - Do any sort of errand or chore that Gillian wants to do. Grocery shop or pick up supplies from Target or Wal-Mart for things around the house.
5:00 PM - Dinner time! My favorite dinner is steak. I love steak. For anyone who doesn't eat steak, I'll eat an extra one for you next time!
6:00 PM - More Duty. Now everyone in the normal world with a normal job can get on duty and play with me and the boys. Czarnik is almost guaranteed to be online whenever you log on. After this session of Xbox I usually call my parents, family, friends, etc. to catch up.
8:00 PM - Time for me to start winding down and watch TV. I like to watch a lot of NHL games in my spare time. I enjoy watching the Kings play because I'm familiar with the guys and the style of play. Its a good way for me to learn more about the game also. If I'm not watching hockey then I like to watch National Geographic or Discovery Channel. Surprisingly, I also enjoy reading and learning. You wouldn't think that coming from a guy who never graduated after going to college for 4 years. I got caught up a little in the college hockey lifestyle.
11:00 PM - I'm in bed and watching shows on the computer or on TV, whichever one Gillian chooses. Once I'm in bed it takes from 1 minute to 15 minutes for me to fall asleep. Just a day in the life of Ray Kaunisto.
